Everyone needs to wear sunscreen

Summer is here i  hope by now you all know the importance of taking care of our skin, but even more so during those hot summer months.

In Jamaica we have two types of seasons: hot and hotter. I don’t remember putting on a ton a sunscreen growing up as a child; probably because of the idea that “Black folx don’t need sun protection because we are already dark” myth. Oh yes, it sounds funny but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to the beach with my girlfriends and they’ve packed everything in their beach bags EXCEPT sunscreen.
So let’s make this clear:

Everyone needs to wear sunscreen
The sun does NOT discriminate so it is important that we all take care of our skin year round but especially when the sun is blazing.
I use the following: which is available at Pretty Faces.

I doubt I will ever switch to anything else. It is wonderfully moisturizing and we also have moisturizers in the same line that is just a great. When I break a sweat from working out, it doesn’t leave any residue. I can’t ask for anything more in a moisturizer. I tend to use this every day and even at night sometimes.

Less is more : a flawless look

“Less is more“. A style that’s been trending for a while already is the nude look. Does the nude look mean that we should go out bare faced in the world? Absolutely not! (And I’m totally speaking for myself here). Some acne spots (a.k.a., mine) should never be visible to others. Some days, we  feel extraverted, colourful and expressive and we just want to layer multiple colours on our lids and lips. On other days, we feel nude (perhaps natural is a better term?) and neutral and rapidly want to get it on and be on our way. Here’s a classic look that is simple to do, makes us feel prettied up and yet, not entirely made-over. Perhaps not the nude look however; it’s a flawless look!

Applying make-up should be a self-care moment, not a task. Like Canadian Beauty Blogger Arezu shares on her blog Chica De Belleza: “makeup and applying it is tranquil for me, so I guess that’s why I like taking my time. It’s my stress reliever.” If you find that applying make-up takes too much of your time, keep in mind that practice makes better (if not perfect) and faster. Keep the routine to the essentials that work best for you.

Foundations are meant to unify the complexion and should be a perfect match to your skin colour or very slightly lighther. Select one that feels like you have nothing on and complete with a concealer (dark circles, minor scars or imperfections) if you need to. If applying eye shadow still feels strenuous for you on a weekday but you want your eyes to pop regardless, than perhaps only apply a nice coat of eye pencil and / or mascara.

Same goes for lipcolour. If you’re not sure which shade suits you, here is a purchase tip: do not try a lipstick colour on the back of your hand, which is usually quite different from your natural lipcolour. Instead, pinch one of your fingers and test the colour on your fingertip. The colour on your lips will be much more similar to that on your fingertip than to the top of your hand. And your look will be… flawless! ;o) credit to Marcelle.com

Tweezing vs Waxing, Shaving and Threading

These days there are many options to hair removal. It's not just about the razor anymore. Different hair removal methods work better on different areas & skin tones. My favourite method when shaping the eyebrow is to tweeze, by tweezing you have more control over the removal of the hair in comparison to waxing, shaving and threading. Tweezing last just as long as waxing but can be done right be for you apply your makeup with having to worry about skin irritation and the area getting infected. below are the different types of tweezer i think females should not live without.

Tweezers with slanted tips gives you more control and are good for novices and are suitable for short hairs. Tweezers with square tips are quite useful when it comes to pluck off coarse thick hair or more than one hair at a time. You can choose any of them depending on your need and convenience.
